The Acast link is resolved by our media extractor. It asks Acast for the list of renditions it publishes for that item, takes the best progressive one and streams it through to you as the audio file. Nothing is transcoded on the way, so quality is whatever Acast encoded at. Among the Acast link shapes handled are channel. Acast publishes real audio renditions, so an audio request there is a copy rather than a re-encode. Some Acast URLs name a collection rather than a single item, and those return everything the collection holds.
