There is a difference between watching something on Mastodon and having it. A link can be taken down, made private or region-locked tomorrow; the MP4 file on your own disk cannot. That is the entire point of this page. Everything from Mastodon goes through the gallery route, which enumerates a post's files instead of negotiating a stream.
