A post link and a stream link are both fine here — they take different paths internally and you do not have to care which.
The URL shape decides the route: album-style Redgifs links go to the gallery extractor, stream-style links to the media extractor.
A post can return several files and a stream returns one. Either way nothing was re-encoded on the way through.
