Weibo links arrive in two shapes and we route them differently. A post or album URL goes to the gallery extractor, which walks the attached files; a stream URL goes to the media extractor, which negotiates renditions. Paste either and the right one picks it up. Weibo is one of the broader integrations here — 9 distinct link shapes are handled rather than a single canonical one. The renditions we see from Weibo arrive as MP4. Items on Weibo are typically under a minute, so the files are small.

A post link and a stream link are both fine here — they take different paths internally and you do not have to care which.
The URL shape decides the route: album-style Weibo links go to the gallery extractor, stream-style links to the media extractor.
A post can return several files and a stream returns one. Either way nothing was re-encoded on the way through.
