The Kick link is resolved by our media extractor. It asks Kick for the list of renditions it publishes for that item, takes the best progressive one and streams it through to you as the profile file. Nothing is transcoded on the way, so quality is whatever Kick encoded at. The extractor covers 3 separate Kick URL shapes, so a link copied from anywhere on the site usually resolves as-is. Kick also carries live output, and a stream still in progress has no final file to give you yet. The renditions we see from Kick arrive as MP4.
